Missing Spiti Already..., 21.9.2003

Hi everybody,

How are things? I am back to the fast pace of India after more than 3 months isolated and protected by the mighty Himalayas in the beautiful Spiti Valley in the North of the Country. For those who don't know or remember it, I was, since June, working as a teacher in a Tibetan school in Himachal Pradesh. It was an amazing experience and my heart already misses the children, the people, the place... I am sure I will be back, though. I am hooked! This region of India is sooooooo overwhelming! The most beautiful and amazing place I have ever been, no doubt! The most rewarding experience I have ever had! To be in contact with the children and the people of Spiti taught me so much. They have an innocence and kindness that we don't find it anymore in the West (almost nowhere, I dare to say!).

I don't know yet what I will do from now on. Go with the flow as always, i suppose... I have just found out, though, that my ticket back to London is valid only until 03.12. I was intending to stay longer in India. I will try to update it. If I don't manage I will have to consider going back home earlier. To live in India for a while is still an option, though. There are many projects I want to check here before deciding what to do in the near future; And there will always be the connection with Spiti and the school. I would love to go back there next year! I promised the children! Perhaps I will give the flight a miss... Either this or I will go back home (London and Brazil), organize myself and come back to India in June/July next year. Lets see... I am heading to Nepal tomorrow and to Tibet, afterwards. In November I am back to India and will decide what to do.

Many of you tried to get in touch with me and didn't manage. I am sorry about it. My inbox was overloaded and it was blocked. I know of at least 5-6 letters that hasn't reached the school's address in Spiti. And the telephone there was of no help either. I received only one call. It was almost impossible to get a connection. My family was not very happy about it. Anyway, you can reach me now, so, please, drop us a line!!! A lot of catching up to do!
